Basic Bible Understanding

The book of Psalms is a book of poetry. It doesn't rhyme like we think of poetry but it does follow some guidelines in the original Hebrew. Many of these Psalms were sung. Some have said the Psalms was the Old Testament hymnal. In some psalms you will find the same words or even verses repeated, very much like the chorus of a modern song. So as you read the Book of Psalms and find the wording is a little strange just remember it is Hebrew poetry. You may not want to try to sing some of these....unless you have a dog to sing with you!
